※ waste で無駄遣いするという意味以外に、廃棄物というのも有るんですね。
Redemption : つぐない、しょく罪
involve : 巻き込む
reward : 褒章、褒美
leading : 先導する （ 導く？ ）
arrests : 逮捕
informed : 通知

この文の前半はどこで切れば良いのか分かりませんでした。

Google で検索をかけてみた所、
・ cutting a hole through the roof

などの英文が出てきたので2番が正解でしょうか？
